How Up-to-date Machine Safety Training Can Benefit Your Company

All too often, organizations don’t adhere to OSHA’s guidelines until it’s too late – “too late” meaning they’re being sued by an employee because of a workplace-related injury due to negligence or they’re receiving a fine on behalf of OSHA due to improper safety precautions. Some of these regulations and standards may seem trivial and meticulous, but they’re created with a purpose: to keep people safe. Our experts at Machine Safety Specialists (MSS) can properly train your staff on all things machine safety and prevent you from having to pay for negligence in the future.

Our Training Programs

We provide a variety of machine safety and risk assessment training options to empower and protect your team. We give you clear, detailed safeguarding answers for today’s highly automated machinery. Our training covers advanced machine safety issues for automated machinery, including OSHA nuances, control reliability and functional safety, application of ISO safety standards, risk reduction, risk management, and liability considerations.

Highlights of our Training

  • Our experts are capable of covering a wide range of technical topics (with a focus on the most detailed, up-to-date information) to help safeguard employees and meet compliance requirements: machine guarding, risk assessment, control reliability, safety control systems, and OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and ISO/EN machine safety standards.
  • Each class syllabus can be customized to your particular application and safety needs. You can choose from the topics that matter most to you.
  • Choose the training format that you prefer: lecture, hands-on team workshop, personalized Q&A, on-site face to face training, or online training via Microsoft Teams.

Live, Instructor-Led Training

All of our training programs are live and instructor-led. Why is this important? OSHA machine guarding regulations are nearly 50 years old and have simply not kept up with today’s highly automated machinery. This can be confusing, as to comply with OSHA’s general requirements, you must apply technology and safety standards that are not clearly described within the OSHA standards. Our live instructors explain the details and nuances you need to be successful and compliant in today’s highly automated manufacturing environment.

Flexible Training Formats for You and Your Team

We know that finding time to train can be difficult. That’s why we provide on-site, online, and open enrollment class options, all delivered with the same live, personalized approach from our technical experts. You can choose to train:

We also provide flexible programs and options such as:

  • Classroom-style training
  • Hands-on team workshops
  • Focused technical breakout sessions on advanced topics
  • Custom training including focused Q&A and discussion
  • Keynote-style speaking opportunities at corporate safety events

Topics We Cover

Our training programs are designed to help safety professionals, technical personnel, engineers, and managers to develop an understanding of the latest OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, RIA (industrial and collaborative robots) and ISO/EN requirements for industrial machine safety and risk assessment. We also can cover the following technical topics in more detail:

  • Industrial robot safety
  • Collaborative robot safety
  • Stop-time measurement classroom training
  • Stop-time measurement hands-on exercise
  • Safety requirements for bypassing guards
  • Advanced functional safety and control reliability
  • Machine tool guarding requirements

About Our Instructors

Our programs are taught by MSS’ TÜV certified senior safety engineers. These instructors include practical, real examples and illustrations from their decades of experience inspecting, consulting, and conducting accident investigations in more than 500 plants across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The MSS team’s instructors are machine safety trainers for OSHA, the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, and the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).

Professional Development Credit: CEUs and PDHs

With our machine safety training programs, you have an opportunity to boost your expertise and the potential to earn professional development credits. Many organizations and states recognize seminar hours for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs). A CEU is typically equivalent to 10 hours of participation in a recognized continuing education program, and a PDH is usually equivalent to one hour of learning in a professional development activity. Check with your state or organization to confirm eligibility.
